Halo: Collateral Damage
By:Cody Moore

Does anyone else read the Halo comics? I really want to enjoy all the new media, but I can't stop faulting everything. Right off the bat... The art "style". This has been a running problem with the Dark Horse Halo comics, but it worse here than I've ever noticed. This looks drawn by a Middle Schooler. (A very talented Middle Schooler, but still!)

The writing feels very dumbed down, like the target audience is... Middle Schoolers. The Spartans all have "prototypes" that they can't get used to... because "COOL!" Somehow they already have Active Camo?! Spartans who all have the EXACT same armor... No longer have the same armor. This has been happening slowly, but usually it can be explained that over the years they diverged. This takes place in the continuity of exactly the same. Fluctuating height. Spartans are supposed to be around 7 feet tall... While generally taller in this comic, they are often the same heights as regular humans NOT in armor.

The story isn't bad... It's nothing great, but has potential... But why has Halo continuously had such a drop in quality? :( Am I just no longer the target audience or am I just an old curmudgeon?

Also... A new Comic right before E3 with no planned Microsoft Exclusives this year, and few announced next... Are we in for a Halo 6 teaser?
