Well, the grab was only one of the many tricks employed of course. But it's a goodie.

No, only this grab. However, I'm wondering if speedrunners have considered strategic uses of checkpoint delaying. In that full-game run, GarishGoblin had a disaster in the cavern, after the grab. Got hit by the Banshee after operating the door switch, and got reverted a long way back, losing a lot of time. I pointed out that if he'd delayed that checkpoint (the tunnel checkpoint) with Banshee fire until closer to the switch, he wouldn't have got reverted back so far. It would've been a good safeguard; and there could be similar uses of checkpoint delaying elsewhere. But maybe the speedrunners are already well aware of this - I don't know.
