I wasn't expecting an in-depth technical manual at all for Warfleet so I wasn't disappointed as some have been. Much of it was in sync with what I've long suspected or remedied what I found to be out-of-character for many United Nations Space Command vessels. Cruisers and destroyers were brought in-line as proper descendants of today's surface combatants instead of the multi-role assault ships much of science fiction makes them out to be, like that wouldn't be a budgetary nightmare. They seem like ships acquired for the UNSC Navy on the authority of Congress and not some nerd wanting their "dream fleet."
I have a casual write-up of my analysis and reactions for the Human section on Halo Archive.
My favorite entry is probably In Amber Clad. Once such an underwhelming vessel, now something I would love to spend many, many days aboard...
"In Amber Clad looks a lot more interesting in cutout form. The MAC is located on the ventral boom of the Stalwart-class opposed to the dorsal boom on Charon and Paris classes. Fortunately this illustration added a ton of missile pods, point defense guns, and sensors to the look. Still kinda wish they'd make her into an anti-stealth hunter killer frigate despite that."
"They finally made something out of the port and starboard hangar flight pods on the UNSC's frigates. On Halo: Reach I tried messing around in the drydocked frigates in a Sabre to see if I could fit and it didn't work. Seems like it's just a matter of gameplay scaling. Each flight pod can launch, recover, and maintain three Pelican dropships. They're lowered via crane into a launch bay accurately seen here in Halo 2 and a little more clearly in Halo 2 Anniversary."
