Eh. Bummer.
: As for Halo crossing over with Metal Gear, people have said that since the
: Mantis first showed up.
They haven't been wrong.
: Either way, I'm not sure why mechs would be your breaking point for enjoying
: the game.
Not my breaking point, more like another nail in the coffin. I love the idea of a Halo RTS, but Halo Wars 2 just isn't for me.
As for why I detest mechs in specific, I didn't grow up with anime like a lot of other people did. Never played Metal Gear either, so mechs just don't have that 'wow' factor for me. But I'm a mechanical engineer by training, and I'm a hardware junkie who likes knowing why military vehicles are designed the way they are.
To me, that Colossus (And giant mechs in general) is about as realistic as a kitsune with a magic wand. That'd be fine, each has their place in fiction. But unlike the hypothetical kitsune, people keep insisting that the giant mech could be a useful weapon of war. It's not. It's a pile of bad decisions that belongs in the same genre of science fiction as cyborg ninjas and this-is-sci-fi-so-we-can't-call-it-magic psionics.
So that's why mechs in Halo bug me so much. They belong in a different genre than what I think Halo belongs to.
: If it floats you boat, play as another leader and destroy the
: opposing Johnson player's mechs with dark glee.
I only played Halo 4's multiplayer once. In that game, I EMPed a Mantis with a plasma pistol, clambered on and smashed the metal motherfucker into junk.
It was fulfilling, but not enough to keep me playing.
