HWC this weekend was a bit of a mess, it seems...

Kotaku published an article regarding this weekend's Halo World Championship, which despite a $1 million prize pool (compared to last year's $2.5 million), seems to have been haphazardly organized. From an unexpected venue change to a less-than stellar setup, the event seems to have been a step down from the last Championship.

Heck, for an event centered around a competition, they couldn't even spell "competition" correctly.

It's unfortunate, but the tweet where one of the players is complaining that the event staff and fire marshalls are getting fed before he is shows how some of these entitled kids deserve no better.

And one of the images posted in the comments seems oddly fitting...

My favorite quote is this bit of wisdom:

"No matter how much some companies want to invest in the myth that if you create it, and award enough prize money for being the best at it, gamers will flock to you in droves, its hard to paper over a lack of grass roots fandom with headline-making prize pools."

On a positive note, however, the lower brackets apparently had some great plays that should make for an entertaining watch.
