Day 1 patch, WHY?

So, I preloaded Halo Wars 2 Ultimate edition yesterday morning. Of course, if you clicked on it at any time before Midnight EST, it would just say that you couldn't play it yet, come back later.

While playing Gears of War 4 last night, my Xbox popped up a message at midnight saying that i could now play Halo Wars 2. Awesome, I'll give it a test drive and then go to bed.

NOPE "Halo Wars 2 needs an Update - 2.8 GB."

sigh. I'll give it a try tonight then.

Why can't the push the Day 1 patch out with the preload?
