I remember back in the day seeing a side by side of the H3 Warthog Run and a SC overhead and the central plateau landmass is exactly the same. Sadly, I can't remember for the life of me where I saw it but I can almost guarantee you're 100% right on this.

Before posting I decided to go sleuthing and found the exact image I was talking about on the Halopedia page for the level Halo.
