In Response To: Re: Why I Love Halo (davidfuchs)

: Looking back on it, while I have my issues with Reach one of the things I
: really liked is that Jun survived, but that it wasn't underscored. I still
: have my issues with Carter's death (mostly how it was sort of thrown in
: before a cutscene) but I think the tendency for a "modern" story
: would have been for everyone to die (hello, Star Wars Rogue One), where I
: think it has more resonance if some people get out.

Yeah, the fact that Jun and survived and that we knew the PoA and therefore our actions would directly lead to the events of Halo:CE helps leave a silver lining at the end. Which is also mirrored by the monologue given by Cortana and/or Halsey at the end of Lone Wolf. Made the story not follow the common tragedy trend so common with the "team story" nowadays.

: That's an interesting way of describing the game, although one I agree with.
: The REQ system allows a lot more freedom to get crazy in the sandbox than
: any of the games previously.

Also, I'd like to mention the REQ glitch considering I completely missed it when writing this but anything that allows me to shoot rockets out of a turret should be mentioned when giving "The Most Explosive" award.
