Oh, I wasn't trying to suggest the machine gun or even the Scorpion's main gun are that accurate normally, simply that there is a noticeable difference between adjusted and non-adjusted aiming with said weapons.

If you want an example, try firing the Scorpion's cannon from one side of the cavern towards the other, first with no target, and then with a target - the aim does go from absolute rubbish to being just-bad-enough-to-be-annoying, and a similar principle applies with the machine gun. Even more noticeably, I've had countless instances where I've wanted to shoot a Hunter with the cannon, only to find my aim magically diverted to, say, a random Grunt who, despite being way off to the side, seems to trigger the auto-adjust mechanism simply by being a few meters closer than the Hunter I had been aiming at.

One thing I'm not entirely certain about is whether the auto-adjust functions even when firing at enemies who are too far away to turn the reticle red - perhaps you would know?
