Halo was a real cool game, even if I only had a bootleg copy of the PC version. Halo was grounded military SF with mythical overtones and low points of cosmic horror. I was hooked immediately.

The next ten years (It has been almost exactly ten years) were a high point in my life. Halo was my gateway to writing and debate and fandom as Serious Business. I can argue that it's because of Halo that I got to meet my personal heroes, like Larry Niven and Howard Taylor.

I wish I'd been more active in the community before it moved on. At the very least, I wish I'd been a regular in the community customs...
