I'm pretty sure like how Serina didn't end up with a massive boob window the Spartans wouldn't have been walking around like naked WoW characters.

But with that said, an MMO format just doesn't fit with a lot of core Halo elements, and from a lore standpoint they really arrest momentum (look at what happened to Warcraft) so I'm supremely happy it didn't come to be.
