What does the Nielsen Bookscan have to say?
That graph on the lower right actually contradicts the 55% figure I quoted earlier. Could be different revenues from different years, could be that the "55% of all fiction books" refers to revenue while the 29% figure above represents units sold. Hmm.
Anyhow, a quarter of the romance readers are between the ages of 18-29, and 6% are younger. That... that doesn't surprise me. You'd probably see similarly skewed demographics for porno mags, because the younger audience knows they can get it for free on the internet.
