First of all, the new canvas Tidal kiiiiiiind of sucks at the whole "generating lighting" thing. I know that 343 is aware of it, but seriously, it doesn't go away (feels like it gets worse). This was the typical Generating Lighting screen:
Whatevs, I just avoided doing it too often (it was a huge annoyance while I compared Skyboxes, since each one triggered the lighting generation).
I then found a couple of funny quirks on the map. The whales don't like you messing with their habitat:
And by this point, I think we're all pretty aware that "Quality Control" is not a term that gets thrown around a lot over at 343 industries:
Aaaaaaaanyway, while messing around with the new goods, I found a section called "Pipes". Are those new? Have they been there? Who knows! I decided to play around with them.
In the end, I was able to get around the setbacks to make a minigame. The map is very basic and without much detail (I wanted to see if it was even fun to play before I spent any significant amount of time on it), but entirely functional, so check it out!:
A lone stronghold sits in the center of the map. Capture and hold it to win!
Simple enough, right?
Fight with Hammers and Swords, and take care not to fall off.
But if you do fall off, not all is lost! There are a number of pipes that you can dive into:
Going into any of these pipes will launch you over the map, letting you Ground Pound the poor sap that left you for dead, or simply giving you a chance to regroup with your teammates instead of sitting at the respawn screen.
The Gametype is called "Pipe Dream Stronghold", but it may work fine in Slayer as well. Check it out, and feel free to send me some feedback if you want (or let me know if it sucks, that works too).
