Wasps are surprisingly resilient...

Well, so long as you keep maneuvering. It's actually fairly easy to remain on target while constantly dodging fire. If you get pinned between two groups of enemies whose undivided attention is on you then you're screwed. I find that the Wasp is pretty great for pinning down enemies in-turn and distracting them from your teammates who ideally have deadlier weapons than your own. It's very much like the Hornet of old.
