Aside from the fact that they have legs you mean?

The classic units like the Wraith and the Ghost haven't been touched, but the Locust has been changed to give it a more segmented, insect-like look. I think it's possible that the slab-sided stuff we've seen is an attempt to give the Brutes their own aesthetic.
