Unggoy with Cudgels?

In Response To: Canon Fodder #77 & New CU (GrimBrother One)

We'll be fighting Grunts in Halo 6. And, as usual, I'm half rooting for the little guys. I can see why they'd take up with the created. And, once again, it will be a pleasure doing business with them (AKA shooting them in the head).

Would there be members of covie species on both sides or a split along species lines? It's hard to imagine why any Grunts would take arms against their Balaho cousins - they'd really have to believe that the created were going to be bad for the Grunts in the long run.

And cudgels? New weapons for old races? A new combat mix? Could be good, could be bad, lets see how it's done. I have a picture in my mind of grunts with gravity hammers.

I can see why 343 wants to have variety in enemies (not just Forerunner enemies) though it would be nice if, somehow, we could fight alongside covie allies: all the species. I don't know how that would fit into the main game narrative but maybe there could be an ODST style game were we dip into a side story set in the past or an anthology of smaller stories shipped together. maybe they'd be linked by a theme or an overarching story.

By anthology I mean written and developed by different small teams: Joe could do a Grunt story, we could see an arbiter's struggle, the taming of the Hunters, whatever. Let's visit some of the other covie homeworlds (though I imagine that we will do this in Halo 6 anyway).

I wonder if there could be a quantum leap style game where, every couple of levels, you find yourself inhabiting a different body and you have to get up to speed with what that body's situation is and then work out how to get towards the overarching story's goal within the world that your current body inhabits. You could find yourself as a Hunter or a Promethean Knight, a shield Jackal or a Skirmisher, or a jackal pirate attacking and boarding another ship.

You know, the haloverse is a big place and it's fairly confining to always have a galactic threat and always be the single hero.

I imagine that it would be difficult for different teams to come up to speed with 343's engine. maybe they could have an internal group that provides the technical resource and just have story tellers and visionaries that take care of the story - give them 1 to 4 levels and let them get on with it. use the h6 engine once the game has been released just like the h3 engine was used for ODST. And we can have more variety in our halo experiences.

I want to see a Hunter Moon!
