I think that the default traits are going to help a lot, especially with the "immediate quit because I'm alpha zomb and have to deal with dying repeatedly until they're out of pistol ammo" frustration that was Halo Reach Infection and Halo 4 default Flood. This variant seems like it takes a lot more inspiration from Halo 4's Hivemind game type, and that is a good thing.
Still sad we don't get an infected player model, but such is life.
