Remember how people bitched that the BR's spread in Halo 3 was different and vastly inferior to Halo 2? I think that's when I stopped caring.
: It would dig Halo's grave deeper.
Would it kill Halo as fast as releasing a fundamentally broken game that takes eight months and gigabytes of patches to bash into a working configuration? Or flat-out lying to your consumers about what the next game's story will feature?
: 343 is trying to get xL33TxMLGx types back on to Halo, that would work
: against them.
Don't care.
: Anyway it's not the point. That change would make the BR incredibly
: frustrating to use unless you just never zoom in and can handle and enjoy
: playing that way.
No. It encourages you to get closer.
: It would also make SWAT BRs harder
Don't. Care.
: It wouldn't improve the weapon or the sandbox.
On the contrary. It improves the weapon by widening the skill curve and making zoom a more tactical decision. It improves the sandbox by making the other weapons more relevant.
: The only way it would work is if they did it like the Halo 4 light rifle (or toned down
: the zoomed-in shot so it did the same amount of damage as non-zoomed) and
: that met with a resounding "meh".
You've got to admit, "Meh" is a perfectly reasonable reaction to every single part of the Promethean's sandbox in Halo 4. Probably Halo 5 as well, but I haven't played it so I can't comment from experience.
: Well you shouldn't be the least bit surprised or disappointed they'll never
: happen then, because the people who make this stuff have to think about
: balance and the role of each item.
Only because of the next problem.
: That's not going to happen, especially not under 343. They put every weapon
: in multiplayer (heck they near enough put every weapon on every map).
You do realize that this is a problem that they are making, right? Give me one good reason why every single weapon in campaign has to be in matchmaking multiplayer. Just one.
Multiplayer is a different beast than campaign. Multiplayer is balanced because balance is fair. Campaign is unbalanced because you don't need to be fair to nonsentient NPCs. Why should two different gametypes share the exact same weapon set?
