I got that sense too, which I don't get, because aside from knowing the classes of Forerunner society which are referenced maybe 3 times (although one is pretty prominent), all the relevant story bits are either delivered to you on a silver platter or present in previous games. They even go out of their way to connect different parts of the story to itself, like they're trying to prevent people who only halfway paid attention but love speculation and connecting the dots from getting weirdly wrong ideas. Do you how many intel pieces there are that seem to serve no purpose but to let you know there's a Guardian in Sunaion, or how many tell you there's something Forerunner on Meridian? (four, the answer is at least four of each, although the Meridian ones aren't as bad because three of them tell how the Forerunner complex got opened up because of some less than scrupulous middle-management type)
