Well you already said the problem-- they already have people whose main job at the moment is to explain everything canonically. I think that's a noble goal but somewhat misguided in its application. I also think you're being a bit presumptuous and, well, also misguided, about what no one will believe. They're delivering this canon fodder information in a pretty out-of-universe way and they're not claiming the lore came first, the point is clearly to make things fit and then explain to everyone how they fit. I think you should be taking issue with the designers that give them nigh-impossible things to explain or the managers who said everything is canon now.
