A Christmas Gift For All ::VID::

A lot of us gamers, don't have the option to video capture our gameplay. If you're like me, you probably rely heavily on the Xbox's and Windows10 Game DVR system. You may also rely on Upload Studio to edit your videos quickly. However, it gets pretty tedious when you want to create clone of a past video but with new footage. That clone would normally be built with a Custom Video Template, to save time. Sadly, Xbox One's Upload Studio doesn't allow users to save custom templates. Because of this (and it's other limitations), I'd much rather edit the footage on my computer.

There's just one problem. If I edit it on my PC, then I'll not have the transitions, intros, splashes, and etc that come with working in Upload Studio. And some of them are pretty useful. So, how would I get around this? Well, I've searched online for any source files that modders may have released. No such luck. Ditto on any official releases from the developers.

For a while I thought I was out of luck and forgot about it. Then a little video from Rooster Teeth's editor, Trevor, reminded me of it. It's that moment the answer came to me. FORGE! Specifically, Halo 4's Forge. So I got to work creating a simple green-screen box in Forge. I then started up the footage in theater mode. I paused it on a clean shot of the green-screen, and hide the HUD. Next I snapped the X's Game DVR and started recording. A minute, or so, later I ended the recording.

Now, I had a minute of green-screen footage in my DVR saves. So I booted up the Upload Studio app and imported that footage. After a some minor trimming, I repeated the process for every other segment. In-between these segments, I added Intros, Splashes, and Transitions. Because I never use them, I had forgotten about the DVR's template sets, so it took me a little while. But before long, I had the entire Halo set from Upload Studio in one Timeline. Each segment separated by a one minute long green-screen clip. In hindsight, I should have made it 30 seconds. You live, you learn. I rendered the Timeline out and we have the below resource video.

It's not ideal, I know. Especially the two clip Transition, Intro, and Outro segments. But it's the best I could do. There is no option to hide the gamertag, so it's stuck there. The good news is that not all of the available Intros and Outros show the gamertag, so that's a plus. I'll be creating those soon as well.

I've already created the Halo and Call Of Duty clips. I've also just finished the first set of Transitions as a clip (30 sec green time). I'll not be doing this for all of the options available. Many transitions are simple and can already be done in most video programs. ie, fade to black, pan, blur, etc. Thus, providing them as well, would be redundant. The Green-Screen clip is alone in my DVR list. Feel free to use it to your needs. Only the start and end of the clip has audio. This is because I had pause the H4's theater mode while recording it with the DVR.

Enjoy.
Credit for my time would be appreciated, but not required.
PS: XboxClips.com says all resource videos are from Halo MCC. This is b/c the Green-Screen clip was made with it. This is something I can not fix.
