I'm not quite sure what you're asking in the first part, with armour and self. Regarding hardlight holograms, I...suppose it's possible? They still need emitters, so he couldn't really clone himself that way, if that's what you mean. More like a distraction. I don't actually know if his combat skin had any hologram function though - I don't believe we see it in the games or comics.
