It's not possible to screw them over just as much as they can screw you without just minimizing your engagement of bosses (which seems counter to the design). The best strategy is to dedicate just enough people to survive pinging the boss for a chance at the kill and dedicate the rest of your team to establishing better map control.
It's why quidditch is a terribly designed sport... if most of the game is pointless next to a relatively unrelated deciding factor that can change the outcome of the game drastically, then most of the game is unnecessary and boring. It's probably why it's a made up sport that wouldn't actually be interesting in real life outside of the obviously humorous elements of it.
Criticizing something for not being competitive enough or not interesting/fun enough, doesn't mean people are not competitive... that would be backwards. What is weird, is all the chest beating going on, I get it, you really care about winning, congrats.
