I partly agree to this. But unless you are watching the entire shoot out, there's no way of knowing which team reached the 50.1% mark first. Now, it can cause issues when A.I. characters spawn near bases. Because then, one player can spawn at their captured base and just start hammering the boss before the other team gets there. But I feel that there's a way to counter this issue. The bosses always spawn in a set number of locations. You can predict it pretty well. So this already helps to counter this issue.
I still deeply believe that the team that causes the most damage should get the kill And since the Boss spawns are predictable, it shouldn't damper the "exciting/stressful scenarios". Players just need to pay a bit more attention to their spawn order.
