Not to mention that the "get rewarded for the damage you do" option would actually likely be the WORST experience, as it almost completely eliminates any of the tension/risk/excitement from the encounter, especially the later in the game you go. If you knew all you needed to do was to "50% damage" for example to clinch the game, the fun in many ways evaporates from that encounter. That's my opinion at least. I mean, I don't like getting legendary boss kills yoinked from my team either, but I'd be lying if it didn't create some crazy exciting/stressful scenarios on both ends of the outcome lol.
