What is up with the Forge Maps?
They are decent maps, I suppose. Well except for Orion. I really don't like that map at all.
But did 343 even bother to really test these maps? I know that in "The Sprint" they made out they tested them. But from what I saw and played, it seems like they simply "prettied them up" more then test them. Spawn killing is sooooooo bad on these maps. It's especially noticeable when you play Swat.
Now new Big Team Maps are going to be coming out soon and they all look to be created in Forge. Apart from being the lazy way out, this has me worried for future maps. Including these BTB maps. The Forgers (Ducain, PsychoDuck, etc) are very talented Forgers. But each Forge map I've played so far has some pretty big flaws. Flaws that should have been fixed before release. And with BTB Forge maps (created a very short time ago), these same issues are bound to creep up again.
Halo5 is very different from past Halo games, including Halo4. There's endless sprint, more cross-map shooting, clamber, boost, ground pound, etc. Many elements that seem to have been ignored. The current set of Forge maps have a lot of open space for small maps. Players are getting killed, with magnums, across these maps. I know the Halo CE Magnum was a fan favorite. But that was because there were no DMRs or BRs to deal with. And now it takes a very few shots to kill a player. The Halo CE magnum should not be in Halo 5. It's not just the magnum, but all weapons seem unbalanced. As do the Charge. Why is it when I charge into someone, they survive and are able to turn and shoot me dead in two shots? And why doesn't the Radar have a elevation indicator for players? More then half the time, I can't tell where someone is. Is he on the other side of the wall, below me, or above me? I just can't tell. I'm getting off subject.
Basically, I'm worried that all we will get now are Forge maps that have not been properly tested. And no more non-forge maps.
PS: Dear Forgers. NEVER place a item on a floating platform, over a death zone, and in clear view of most of the map. And don't also make it near impossible to reach. Also, don't put it right above a power weapon. All you will do is unbalance the game and force players to ignore that floating item.
