Much more eloquently put than I managed, but yeah, that was basically my point. It's just not something I ever see Halo doing.
: It would have been interesting to get more of the Insurrectionist stuff on
: its own, but with the new status quo I doubt everything will be swept
: under the rug. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is certainly
: true, but everyone's still going to try and struggle in accordance with
: their own self-interest. Reluctantly allying with people who would try and
: backstab you at any time is a great narrative conceit (and it was great
: for the whole ten minutes we got of it in Halo 3 with the Flood) so that
: could still be a small element going forward.
I'm hoping it just doesn't get swept under the rug. It's definitely an interesting dynamic.
They have set Halo 6 up to potentially be a literal game-changer, both in story and possibly mechanics.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about Halo using the mechanic, but it would make a certain sort of sense for a Mass Effect or KotOR style planet-hopping quasi-open world mechanic. They at least have it set up to where that's not outside the realm of possibility. While I think that has the potential to be interesting, I'm hoping against it, as Halo 5 was a very refreshing break from Destiny and all the "open world" games out there.
