I think it generally worked more often then it didn't. The cut-in footage was jarring, especially at the beginning—I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be watching some sort of in-universe bad sci-fi or something. And during the sniping scene it was wonky. But poor color matching aside using the SpOps footage when they could helped.

If I had a criticism, it was probably that the plot and characters sort of meandered, and it might have been a better idea to tell a shorter story with a more focused arc that felt more grounded in the timeframe of the game. But I think the acting was in general a step above a lot of fan films, and I definitely appreciated the side chatter. Generally fan films tend to focus too much on the special effects that they can't pull off to the same level anyhow, and the non-combat stuff is cringey (this was a fault of Helljumper for me) so I appreciated the film in that respect.
