Unsure about 343 but Microsoft just places you with a random group, or atleast they used to 7 years ago. it was very weird, they didn't really ask what group I was interested in. Just placed me in the Server team for my interviews. They said that would most likely be my team but I could potentially move. I would assume 343 is a "separate entity" as they have their own listings online.
