Hey guys! I'm going to be taking the reigns on Visualizing the Halo Universe because of Postmortem’s busy schedule as of late. I’ve been contributing to VTHU since its inception, and after discussing it with Postmortem, he decided that I would be a great fit for the continuation of this project.
So a few changes:
- The original goal of VTHU was to visualize some of the least-seen aspects of the Halo universe (things that are described in the books, or other non-visual media), but I want to broaden the scope of this project a bit more. To get a bit vague: I want to use VTHU to explore the Halo universe through visual language. I want to see other artists’ interpretations of what has been set out for us already. I want to see re-designs of subjects that maybe we felt were not given justice. I want this to be much more personal to each artist. I want to see how you see the Halo universe.
- I’m going to open up submissions to more communities. Previously, VTHU was pretty much exclusively a halo.bungie.org thing. There is a lot of talent out there, and I want to make sure that I can reach those people through other avenues.
- I am removing the writing rounds. While I think there is a lot of cool stuff that comes out of these rounds, I want this project to focus much more on visuals.
- Each round will be bi-weekly. I’m going to be playing around with things as I start out, but I think having a round every two weeks is fair and provides enough time for an artist to submit their work.
- Previously, VTHU posts were made on Sunday. Sunday is my relax-day, and I don’t want to have to worry about making a post. So I’m going to be posting on Wednesday from now on.
I think that’s about it. I hope you’re all ready for the first round of the revamped VTHU, coming this Wednesday (10/21/15)!
