Lots of people insist on pronouncing GIF as "giff" instead of "jiff". It's a condition where they don't like that they've been wrong, so they want to change reality to fit their perception.

That said, the fact that the Covenant's gear was also called "Storm" didn't exactly sell the idea that they were a specific unit. And the fact that any non-specialized unit, regardless of species, was also called "Storm" made it seem like that was the name of the faction.

But Gr1m says that it was just lousy communication on 343's part(!), so they'll be trying to clear that up forever now.

Heck, it wasn't until his post that I didn't consider them "Storm Covenant" (a way of saying "poor, ghetto, gauntlet-less, mutated Covenant"). It still speaks of a specific Covenant faction within the games to me, such as the Separatist Covenant from Halo 3.
