There were campaign issues too, they just weren't as extremely common and all-encompassing as the multiplayer issues. You might not have run into them but that doesn't help the people who did and it doesn't excuse 343i for leaving them in the game.

Pre-ordering isn't a courtesy though, and it's much less frequent, and it's definitely not a large part of the income of people whose stuff you're pre-ordering, so it's pretty different from tipping.
