I think, for Halo 6, it would be important to invest more into the technology or invest more into fiddling with our emotions in order to wow gamers again. Imagine if E3 2015's presentation was actually Master Chief shooting up that building from Hunt the Truth. That grips our emotions.
I'll never forget Halo 2's gameplay reveal, and how unreal it looked and played (unfortunately, a lot of that video was unreal, but it was a strong example). These days, a lot isn't surprising anymore unless it's a huge technological accomplishment (No Man's Sky), or if it strongly grips our emotions.
