My impression is that he is going to reunite with Halsey during his adventures with Blue Team and they end up working with her and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant, for a greater purpose(Flood returning to the galaxy, Didact turning on the Covenant, etc.)

Not to mention the Chief could see Halsey as a replacement for Cortana or as the only one who really understands him who is still alive. That or the Chief finds out that Cortana could still be alive but needs Halsey's help to restore her.

Either way, I definitely think that the Master Chief is joining or helping Halsey in one way or another and is branded a traitor for it. Serin Osman would definitely be willing to send someone to eliminate both of them.
