A tragic tale indeed, but your grief doesn't really surprise me. When I tried it in 2011, I was grenading for over an hour before I managed to get the Shade stopped in a workable location; and even then I had to carefully blast it closer, which took a lot of tries.

: How long did it take you?

This time around I was again getting frustrated trying to stop it on the ledge, and that's what made me try using two stopper grenades instead of only one. Much better! That still took about 70 tries, but each one takes little more than 10 seconds, so that makes less than 15 minutes.

When you were doing it, did you use a delayed checkpoint like I did? Things would be way more laborious without.
