Thank you for the response, and it's good to know it's not a visual retcon, but, well some other people already explained why that's still not the response that I would've hoped for. Moving around a toe like that, changing the shape of the head, and (seemingly) changing the structure of the skin aren't differences that I'd expect to happen within a species except in cases of severe birth abnormalities. I guess there's no changing 343i's mind now though.
