They wouldn't be making such overpriced goods if there weren't people out there gobbling it up.
Given how previews have been leaning, I expect Halo 5 will get good previews similar to how Call of Duty games get good reviews: people want to play a polished game that delivers on what they expect, be it multiplayer or campaign... With such previews coming in, people will feel much more comfortable with preorders, regardless of how little content the collector's editions give for the price, and that's not okay, but it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.
We could get into how Halo 5 buzz is trying to drown out the issues with the MCC, but they've successfully quelled those voices with the Beta buzz.
