: I'm taking you to mean the gameplay/interface elements rather than visuals -
: visuals and action sounds they at least have a way to explain in canon, as
: opposed to things like screen markers, text, game announcing, all of that
: type of 'overlay' stuff that doesn't really exist in-armor, but rather
: in-video-game. To me classic gameplay is more the former, and less the
: latter. The more multiplayer looks like a "multiplayer game"
: instead of "spartans duelling" as it were, I wholeheartedly
: agree - that's straying from what made Halo Halo, IMO.

Like, the beta feels like its a training arena for new Spartans. Very sci-fi futuristic "War Games," as it were. That's what 343i is going for, I think, and I'm ok with this.

However, the sound effects sound very "game-ish," the environment looks very training ground-eque (and I feel I can say with confidence that this is on purpose, no?), and a lot of the HUD elements also feel very "game-ish." This sits well with me for something called "War Games," but I hope very few of these elements make the crossover into the Single Player. Because, of course, they AREN'T war games.
