- One-time-use, toggle-able, and damage-activated buttons.
- Spawn and despawn forge objects in-game with a button. Presumably multiple objects can be bound to one button.
Wasn't clear, when he said "[the devs] spawn in an entire race track," how it gets spawned in, but, given the context, probably with a button.
- Spawn vehicles in-game with a button.
What wasn't clear to me: When he activated the button that blew up all the vehicles, was that via the EMP object—as if the button told the emp to destroy vehicles in proximity instead of disable? Or was it separate from the emp, and each vehicle was bound specifically to that button?
There is a 'scripting' section in the forge menu. Scripting wasn't demoed during forge mode, so there is still much unknown (for example, the list of actions and the list of events that can cause actions—Can I teleport players when a particular gun runs out of ammo? Can I move objects along a path?). Will scripting tie into the gametype engine? Can I award extra points for contesting the hill with a scorpion in KotH? Can I parent an overshield pickup to the player with the most kills and offset it so it floats above them wherever they move, tantalizing other players into dropping on them from above?
Even still, we can already conjure some interesting concepts from what little was demoed of scripting. You can effectively make your own dynamic map elements—A button that spawns a killball.
What ideas can you come up with?
