I expect pacifist speed runners would have a few suggestions. Actually I seem to recall that you can make the camo last until you're past that room (or almost past), so that might've been one way. Failing that, one idea that comes to mind is to have a plasma pistol and try to stun at least one Elite as you approach. That would save you some incoming fire.

Yeah you're pretty safe out there, though I've had times when an Elite either got blown through the doorway or briefly stepped outside, and started shooting at me.
