I wonder about this sometimes too, although I guess I'll never know. In reality idk how much different the Reclaimed trilogy would be. We (humans) are still reclaimers, and still next in line to inherit the Mantle albeit after a final test from the Flood.

Another thing I think about is what Bungies original thoughts and ideas were with the Precursors when they introduced the idea in the Halo 2 Beastiarium. Again I suppose we'll never know.
