So what you're saying is, bring in a bunch of performers, tell them they're auditioning for a broadway musical version of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, have them jump around in front of a kinect camera for a day, and just directly map the cutscene models to their movements?
I can dig it.
: Help a girl out. Stop the hiccups! No more loading textures in cutscenes or
: "burning" the game to our screens. I think the former was in
: Vista so that shouldn't be an issue.
The "burning" is only an issue with the 360 emulation. The original game, and the PC port, are both ghost image free.
I'd imagine that, with the XB1's huge memory pool, a "classic mode"-ish mode at the very least wouldn't have much in the way of texture pop.
Who knows, though. Modern game developers still don't give a shit about visual stability, and it's not hard to blame them. Killzone: Shadowfall can't even keep its light and shadow sources under control, yet people are running around gushing how "great" the graphics are. For all the crap Halo 2 gets, its visual stability actually stomps on a lot of newer games. It just sucked at the time, because sketchy asset streaming wasn't really a "thing" yet. And because it affected things like faces in cutscenes, lol.
: Skyboxes . Not going to lie, these brought me out of the experience. Of
: course these were beautiful pieces, but they could have been so much
: better in my totally knowledgable opinion. Made me feel like I'm on a film
: production and these are those painted walls blocking off the road.
It's got its ups and downs. It works best when it's either actually somewhat modelled out (like High Charity's background), or when it's handling really far-out stuff that doesn't have to couple close to the scene (like Cairo Station).
I think they're consistently beautiful, but some do look pretty sketchy. They'd at least want to see a texture quality boost, though some (like looking over the water at the end of Metropolis) would maybe want to be replaced with some models, if you were implementing some redesigned anyway.
