: I guess I wouldn't be opposed to adding just a lower ceiling that would
: defeat the purpose for them in matchmaking. It's just that I'm not sure
: the effort would even be worth the time. *shrug*
My blood surged just a little bit remembering all the blasted times matches were ruined by superbouncing. So yes, many a case of Zanzibar, Headlong, and Foundation games turned into infuriating messes because of it. :)
Like others have said, I think they're fine in Campaign and Customs, but definitely not Matchmaking. This issue is really less about recreating the game though, and more to do with maintaining the Matchmaking equality. Obviously it would need playlist recreation and tweaking for new populations, etc. Any kind of port might create new glitches down the line too, so superbouncing would all have to be evaluated in the long-term management of the system. How do you keep what Halo 2's multiplayer was about while adjusting new playlists, fixing glitches, and ensuring the right flavor of competitiveness? It would be an arduous task.
Which worries me, as 343i meddled quite a bit in Reach's playlists, changing the game from Bungie's intentions at a core gameplay level. Whether I LIKED the changes or not, I was still opposed to them happening at all, from the perspective of preserving an author's intentions. Which is the same perspective that made me frustrated with H:CE Anniversary and terrified of a H2 Anniversary. :)
