Interesting. Aside from things like the ODSTs I prefer the design of a lot of things more in Halo 2 than what came after it (they rounded off the Elites, the Grunts got less cute, et al).
I will agree that losing the shininess of CE did make Halo 2 seem a lot more drab in comparison (the heavy use of Stonerunner and matte earth environments didn't help either.)
