Okay, I have achieved a perfect setup. The checkpoint is right as the dropship comes into vision, and I am at just the right spot on the high ledge to fall down on the dropship without having to do much of anything. I've gotten some pretty great launches from this, including one that knocked me so high that when I died of falling, the game reloaded the checkpoint before I had even fallen to the level of the highest ledge. I've even tagged the Banshee and even the Spirit on my way down, along with getting squished against a wall once or twice by my own Banshee as I'm falling. Oh what fun it is to watch the Master Chief bounce up and fall down to his death, over and over again. If Elite Fireworks was sadistic fun, this is self-deprecating humor taken to the most painful degree.
