343i really needs to work more on preserving instead of rewriting and/or forgetting the original Halos and their unique contributions, in my opinion. I wish small Halo 2 and 3 cultures still thrived, but they have all their luck cut out for them.

When 343i was first formed, or at least became public presence, it seemed to be communicated to me that they were to be the "guardians" of Halo, and yet now (again, in my opinion) they're only contributing their own ideas/characters/styles under the Halo name, like another studio coming in and making a Halo game without understanding its established universe, instead of doing things that preserve and support and continue what was.

It would be great if they could do both, but the first without the later diminishes my interest in any ongoing Halo universe greatly. It makes these disparate Halos clash and judge one another. Hell, if you simply took the classic Halo references and title out of Halo 4, I could probably enjoy it a lot more as its own entity. But as a Halo, it hurts my view of it and anything else connected with it.

I used to automatically want (with glee) almost anything with the name Halo attached. Now that want has literally gone down to zero, and I'm thinking I need to actually reduce some of my peripheral Halo goods down to what still kindles my previous memories.
