Yes, you can put together an assortment of equipment that does everything (well, most things) an Xbox One can do - but that is not the same thing as a single box, even remotely. And although it doesn't mean much to YOU that one box does all this - it DOES matter to a lot of people. To suggest that the non-gaming parts of the box are equivalent of a smart TV is to hugely discredit the UI of the Xbox - and unfairly so. And to suggest that you can replace the gaming ability of the Xbox One (which has a bunch of exclusives, remember) with some other gaming platform plus some number of other tools and have it be the same price and the same convenience... well, you're simply ignoring the fact that a very large percentage of the buying public thinks differently than you do.
I won't be buying an Xbox One on launch, because I don't need most of what it offers... yet. Ask me in a year, though, and I almost certainly will have one. And it won't be solely because it's a gaming box.
