Bungie made ten tons of mistakes. Whether that was the result of them losing good writers like Greg and Matt, or Microsoft pushing them to make more Halo games beyond what they wanted to do (I know Jason Jones said he wanted Halo 2 to be the last one), the fact of the matter is around the time the Halo Graphic Novel came out things were starting to unravel.

I think the failure is more systemic than just 343 supposedly sucking. I think it's just Halo expanding beyond where it was originally written to go, and a lack of quality writers to make up for that.
