I'm not too comfortable with the time jump really. I feel that it is skipping over a lot of potentially interesting story material in the post Halo 3 fiction that may otherwise have been crucial to developing player investment in the story for when the big finale comes in. It just feels to me that they are rolling out the finale before they have developed the universe.

It feels sort of like the Reapers invading after only half a game of Mass Effect 1 in getting to know the characters and races, and the galaxy in general; or only half a season of Star Trek DS9, and then the Dominion invade full force. With sentient life ruthlessly hunted and Master Chief mounting a great effort to survive, it sounds like the stakes are rising way too fast for me to get connected to anything.
