: Well if you're remembering right that's another double-inconsistency, because
: the Halo 4 terminals say the Flood didn't go anywhere, they were hot on
: the heels of the ancient humans, and once the Forerunners had beaten the
: humans they were too strained and worn-down to fight the Flood.

I think a lot of the dialogue in the terminals was summarizing/simplifying more complicated events from the books for the sake of time. Also keep in mind the issue of the Didact and Librarian referring to humans as the "ancient enemy", which can at times be confusing, since that sounds a lot like the Flood too.
